Change in the corporate socio-political positioning – Interview with Markus Scholz.

June 15, 2022

Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz spoke with the German Donors’ Association about the political responsibility of companies and categorizes this new phenomenon based on current examples.

Businesses are increasingly positioning themselves socio-politically. This phenomenon occurs in connection with racism, the protection of human rights, but also in support of vaccination campaigns in the wake of the pandemic, and currently most prominently on the war in Ukraine. This is increasingly demanded by companies. In academic discourse, political corporate social responsibility (PCSR) is primarily understood as a responsibility of businesses to get involved in political processes, ideally via multi-stakeholder processes.

In his interview with the Zivilgesellschaft in Zahlen (ZiviZ) gGbmbH of the German Donors’ Association, Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz, Head of our Institute for Business Ethics & Sustainable Strategy (IBES), speaks about the change in political corporate social responsibility and uses current examples and academic findings to show how this phenomenon should be classified.
