Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz will give a keynote in the course of the webinar series “Human Rights in Business” on 07 May 2021 at 09:30. His presentation is titled “Beyond Legal Requirements – Complicity through Indirect Human Rights Violations?” and it is about ethical and business aspects of a Business and Human Rights Strategy in the context of a Capacity Building Webinar.

This event is organized by Global Compact Network Austria and respACT – austrian business council for sustainable development. Businesses should support and respect the protection of international human rights within their sphere of influence, and ensure that they are not guilty of human rights abuses. These are the first two principles of the UN Global Compact and, together with the SDGs, underscore that the responsibility and respect for human rights, rests with businesses. This embedding of respect for human rights in corporate operations and business relationships is the most effective way to avoid harming people and to build trusting relationships with the communities and stakeholders on which business relies.
