November 19, 2020

First round of the “Responsible Management Lectures: Ideas for Better Business” of the IBES successfully accomplished.

The newly launched lecture series “Responsible Management Lectures: Ideas for Better Business” started this winter semester and supersedes the well-established “CGBE Lectures”.

The “Responsible Management Lectures: Ideas for Better Business” (formerly “CGBE Lectures”), internationally recognized experts from academia and business present their perspectives on various topics of business ethics, sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate governance.

The overarching theme this winter semester was “The Political Responsibility of Business”.  The topic was examined in two lectures: Prof.in Dr.in Elke Schüssler (Head of Institute for Organization Science, Johannes Kepler University Linz) spoke about collective measures for living wages based on her research on “Action, Collaboration, and Transformation (ACT) – initiative on living wages“. Prof. Dr. Anselm Schneider (University Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Stockholm Business School) dedicated his lecture to the political power of multinational corporations.

The new online format has expanded the opportunities for participation. In addition to the students of FHWien der WKW’s Master’s programs, prominent academics and students from other universities, e.g. University of Lapland, Finland, and practitioners participated.

The lecture series continue in the upcoming summer semester under the general topic “Organizing for Sustainability”.
