Dr. Anne Busch together with Dr. Renate Kratochvil (BI Norwegian Business School) and FH-Prof. Dr. Christina Schweiger (FHWien der WKW), has written a paper on the topic “Innovations in the (public) health care system: An analysis from a strategic perspective”.

The article deals with the fact that primary care centres have been developed and introduced as an innovative idea in the Austrian health system. One aim was to create an attractive offer for patients and to guarantee efficient care in the public insurance system. This paper applies the theoretical concept of Dynamic Capabilities to systematically analyse the development and implementation of this innovation by means of a secondary data search. Based on this, success aspects and challenges of the development and introduction of primary care centres are described and recommendations for action are derived from the theory of dynamic capabilities. This contribution takes a strategic perspective and aims to give impulses to actors in the health care system for the development and implementation of innovations.

The article is published in the book Innovationen und Innovationsmanagement im Gesundheitswesen.
