Prof. Dr. Daniela Ortiz Avram

Prof. Dr Daniela Ortiz Avram is the Academic Head of the Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainable Strategy (IBES) and leads the Competence Team Change for Corporate Sustainability at FHWien of WKW.

She studied Business Administration and Philosophy at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck and the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce (Rome, Italy).

Her previous academic positions have included Lead Researcher at the Markets, Culture and Ethics Research Centre (MCE) at Pontificia Università della Santa Croce and Lecturer and Researcher at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI).

From 2016 to 2019, she was the project leader for the City of Vienna-funded project City of Vienna Competence team for sustainable, strategic, and opportunity-oriented management of SMEs (CR4SME)“. After successfully finalising the project, she is now leading the follow-up project, “City of Vienna Competence Team Change for Corporate Sustainability“, at FHWien of WKW.

Prof. Dr Ortiz Avram researches, teaches and advises as an expert in the following areas: strategic sustainability management, sustainability-oriented innovations, responsible corporate management and business ethics. She is also on the Advisory Board of the Sustainability Centres Community (SCC) of the global Network for Business Sustainability

Additional activities

In addition to her academic activities, Prof. Dr. Ortiz Avram is PRME coordinator (Principles for Responsible Management Education, a network of the United Nations Global Compact) at FHWien der WKW and a member of the PRME working group on “Sustainability Mindset“.

She is involved in training and further education programmes for managers and is regularly invited as an expert on sustainability management topics in scientific and private sector contexts. She is also a juror for the TRIGOS Prize, an Austrian award for responsible management.
